1941 • 107 minutes Hapless New Hampshire Farmer Jabez Stone, makes a Faustian bargain with one "Mr Scratch" and immediately turns his luck around. After seven years of power, prosperity, debauchery, and indifference toward his family, the devil demands that Stone fulfill his side of the bargain. Seeing the errors of his ways, Stone asks famed orator and fellow New Englander Daniel Webster to find a way out of the unholy pact. Webster agrees to act as Stone's council in a trial which consists of an unearthly jury, chosen by Mr Scratch, of some of the most evil men in American history. Can Daniel Webster make his case and find compassion in the hearts of the phantasmic jurors for his client? Bernard Herrmann won the Academy Award for Best Music, Scoring of a Dramatic Picture and Walter Huston was nominated for Academy Award for Best Actor. When it was released, the film's title was changed to "All That Money Can Buy" to avoid confusion with another film released by RKO that year, "The Devil and Miss Jones", and later had the title restored on some prints. It has also been released under the titles "Mr. Scratch", "Daniel and the Devil" and "Here Is a Man".
